TECHNIQUE CLASSES

 

* Beginner, ** Advanced Beginner, *** Intermediate


 

BASIC 1A (*): Learn the basics of rotary cutting and piecing.  Basic supplies are provided but students must bring their own sewing machines. Sat., Nov. 7, Dec. 5, Jan. 2 or Feb. 6, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. OR Tues., Feb 2, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Instructor: Linda Bergmann, Fee: $18

HAND QUILTING (*):  Learn the art of hand quilting a quilt top. This is no longer a lost art! Tues. Jan. 19, 10:30-1:30. Instructor: Alice Calhoun, Fee: $18

MACHINE QUILTING FOR BEGINNERS (*): Turn your top into a quilt! Learn basic machine quilting techniques to showcase your quilt tops with both your walking foot and free motion foot.  This is a fun, relaxing class to get started. Sat., Jan. 30, Noon–4:00 p.m. Instructor: LisAnn Spencer, Fee $25

MACHINE QUILTING – STEP TWO (**): This class teaches you to build on the skills you learned in Machine Quilting for Beginners. Guidance and direction will put your skills to practical use on your own quilt top. LisAnn will teach you a no marking method you’re sure to appreciate! Sat., Jan. 9, 12:00 – 4 p.m. Instructor: LisAnn Spencer, Fee: $25

PRECISION PIECING (All levels): Join Dana for this wonderful class where you will learn from an expert piecer! Students will complete a book that will include each specific technique Dana will teach. Mon., Feb. 22 &  29, 6:30-9:00 p.m. Instructor: Dana Lahargoue, Fee: $35

SEW FUN WITH SUE

ADULT BEGINNING SEWING (*): Learn the basics of operating your machine including proper threading, winding bobbins, adjusting tensions, and using different stitches. A new project from the book Stitch by Stitch will be made during each class.  Students must provide their own sewing machine,  discount on machines purchased for class. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 6:00-8:30 p.m. Instructor: Susan De Angelo, Fee: $18 per class + Book.

KIDS BEGINNING SEWING: Great opportunity for kids to make fun, easy projects. First they will learn all the basics of machine operation including when to use different stitches and how to straighten and cut fabric. Discount on machines purchased for class.  Wed., Jan. 13 & Feb. 10, 2:30-3:30, and 3:30-4:30pm. Instructor: Susan De Angelo, Fee: $18 per class.


QUILT CLASSES

BLOCK OF THE MONTH (*&**) Learn quilt making techniques, improve your piecing and appliqué skills, and gain confidence in color selection.  Classes for the new project are from November through May.  Tues., Feb.9, 11–1:30 p.m. OR 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. Instructor: Sue Donbroski, Fee: $15 per month.

BLOCK PARTY MODERN QUILTING BEE (*): Learn to make traditional blocks with a modern look. Put your personal twist and style to the end project! Wed. Feb. 3, 6:30–8:30 p.m. Instructor: LisAnn Spencer, Fee: $10 per month + Book

CIVIL WAR BLOCK OF THE MONTH (**): We are excited to bring you this new Civil War BOM beginning in January. It’s a great sampler quilt in true1800s tradition in small shirting prints in reds, blues and creams. The 2015 quilt concludes in December. Thurs., Feb. 4, 10:30 –1:00 or 6:30 – 9 p.m. Instructors: Sue Donbroski & Pam Sengo, Fee: $20 per class plus patterns & kit

FAT QUARTER FRIDAY (*): Grab your fat quarters, a friend, your favorite potluck dish and join Shirley to make a fun, simple quilt. Fri., Jan. 15, 5:30 – 11:00, Instructor: Shirley Moreno, Fee: $30

HEARTS & PATCHES (*):  A terrific “first quilt”, Pam will teach you the essentials of piecing a beautiful quilt top.  This class will turn you into a quilting addict!  Mon., Feb. 15-22-29, 6:30– 9 p.m. Instructor: Pam Sengo, Fee: $45

LOVE SECONDARY DESIGNS! (**): Victoria’s setting of a traditional block creates an eye-catching secondary design. A fat quarter friendly project, you’ll love seeing your quilt come together! Mon., Feb. 1-8-15, 10:30-1:00 p.m. Instructor: Victoria Norman. Fee: $45

MYSTERY QUILT (**): Join Pam and Sue to make this new pattern from Debbie Caffrey.  Dinner included!  Sat., Feb. 6, 5–11 p.m.  Instructors: Pam Sengo & Sue Donbroski, Fee: $45

PAPER PIECED BEAUTY (***): Make an award winning paper pieced quilt with Linda! You will have your choice of two stunning, irresistible Judy Niemeyer patterns. Prior paper piecing experience or completion of Linda’s Basic Paper Piecing class required. Jan. 19, 26, Feb. 16 & 23, 6:00-8:30 p.m. Instructor: Linda Bergmann, Fee: $60 + pattern

PAPER PIECING BLOCK OF THE MONTH (*): Beautiful Arcadian Avenue” pattern blocks are made in this BOM class, you can begin any time. The pattern will make a striking quilt you’re sure to love. Mon., Feb. 1, 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. Instructor: Linda Bergmann, Fee: $20 per month + book

WEARABLE ART & OTHER FUN STUFF

OUT OF THE BOX (*):  Let’s break the rules and create an art quilt!  Join LisAnn anytime to share and inspire one another. Wed., Jan. 20 & Feb. 17, 6:00–9:00 p.m. Instructor: LisAnn Spencer, Fee: $15 per class

SERGER CLUB (*): Take advantage of these skill builder projects utilizing your accessory feet.

SWEATSHIRT JACKET (All Levels): Create a beautiful jacket from a sweatshirt! Choose a favorite fabric then if you’d like, embellish with beads, buttons etc., Mon., Feb. 15, 22 & 29,10:30-1:00 p.m. Instructor: Connie Horne, Fee: $45

COMMUNITY SEW (Everyone): Join this volunteer group to help make quilts and other items for the Sutter Teen Program, supporting teen parents and their babies in Sacramento County.  Beginners are welcome!  Thursday, January 14, and February 11, 1:00-4:00 p.m. No fee 

FRIDAY NIGHT SEW (Everyone): Catch up on your class homework, finish projects and socialize with quilters.  Bring a snack to share.   Friday, January 8 & 22, February 12 & 26, 5 - 10 p.m.  Instructor: Staff, Fee: $5 each night.

6D PREMIER DIGITIZING MODULE (6D Premier Owners): Are you ready for some fun?  This beginner class will get you started on the digitizing portion of your software so you can begin to create designs from your pictures.  Wednesday, Jan. 13, 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Instructor: Wendy Crook, Fee $ 20.00
